Ramen Lab Eatery: Where Tradition Meets Innovation

By Margot Murphy, Staff Writer

Are you looking for a new culinary experience? Your search ends here. The Ramen Lab Eatery has been delivering genuine Japanese flavors with a unique twist since opening in March 2016.

Established by Louis Grayson, the eatery was born out of a craving for high-quality ramen and a desire to fill that void in East Boca. Grayson, a Lynn alum, noticed a lack of authentic ramen options when he returned to Boca Raton after traveling.

“I felt like it was missing something,” said Grayson. “I couldn’t find any real ramen spots or anything around me.”

With the number of students and young professionals growing in the area, Grayson aimed to provide a unique and memorable dining experience to the developing demographic in the area.

The menu at Ramen Lab Eatery is a physical representation of Grayson’s culinary journey. Combining traditional Japanese and Korean recipes with influences from his grandmother’s Thai cuisine, resulting in a diverse menu that anyone can enjoy.

“My menu was shaped by the things I love to eat,” said Grayson. “A lot of recipes are family recipes… and there’s a lot of traditional, authentic menu items.”

Grayson strived to ensure a solid menu foundation and create something extraordinary.

One of the restaurant’s star dishes is the Tonkotsu Ramen, a rich pork broth featuring homemade noodles made fresh every day.

“I want to make food with integrity,” said Grayson. “I want customers to feel good after they eat here.”

Grayson reflected on his time at Lynn University, explaining its tremendous role in finding his path to becoming a successful business owner.

“One of my professors said, ‘The best job you can get is in sales if you want to know if you can succeed,’” said Grayson. “My first job as a salesperson in a food distribution company taught me a lot and was just like what my professor said.”

The eatery has become a favorite among Lynn University students, offering a student discount with proof of student ID.

“I’ve visited the Ramen Lab Eatery several times to eat or pick up food,” said Nathan Grane, a Lynn graduate. “The food is always amazing, and I’ve never ordered something I haven’t liked.”

Grayson aims to create memorable experiences for anyone, whether your first time in or your one-hundredth. As the Ramen Lab Eatery continues to succeed, Grayson is focused on future expansion while preserving the core values that inspired its establishment.

“We’re looking to open more locations in the future depending on what comes around,” said Grayson. “But we’ll always prioritize quality and consistency across all restaurants… so, when you go to Boca, it tastes the same as when you go to West Palm.”

The blend of authentic and unique flavors and a vibrant welcoming atmosphere illustrates the culinary experiences and possibilities that await at the Ramen Lab Eatery. No matter your age or occupation the Ramen Lab Eatery offers an unforgettable culinary experience.
